Quick Notes

• Trinity International hosts the 2016 Trojan Classic this weekend, beginning Friday with a matchup against the Silver Lake (Wisc.) Lakers, and finishing with the Waldorf (Iowa) Warriors on Saturday night.
• All eight games of the Trojan Classic will be streamed online, at TIUTrojans.com/LIVE
• The Trojans have started the season with a 3-1 record for the second straight year, and are winners of three straight, including last week's victories over Clarke (Iowa) and Emmaus Bible (Iowa).
• Trinity boasts the highest scoring office in the CCAC in the early season, averaging 94.8 points per game. Defensively, the Trojans rank second in the league, allowing 73.5 points per contest.
• Senior forward Zach Kirschbaum is the team's leading scorer and rebounder, with 16.0 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.
• Kirschbaum has posted three double-doubles to start the season, most in the CCAC. His rebounding average also tops the conference.
• Grant Corsi is also posting double figures to start the season, with 12.5 points per game. Six players in all are scoring more than eight points per game for the Trojans.
• The Trojans have some of the best defensive statistics in the country two weeks into the season. Trinity ranks 2nd in the NAIA in blocks (27; 6.8 per game), 3rd in steals per game (13.3), 4th in turnover margin (+9.8), and 4th in total steals (53).
• Trinity is coming off of their first 20-win season in 17 years, and return four of five starters from a year ago.
• Last season, the Trojans reached the NCCAA National Semifinal, in their first NCCAA Tournament appearance since 1999. TIU finished 4th overall in the eight-team tournament after coming in as the No. 6 seed.
• At the start of this season, the Trojans were picked to finish 4th in the CCAC, as voted on by the league's coaches.

Series History
• Trinity and Silver Lake have played three times previously, with the Trojans winning all three matchups.
• The Trojans claimed victory by an average of 3.5 points in the first two meetings, in 2011, before recording a 14 point win last season.
• Friday marks the third trip to Van Dixhorn Arena for the Lakers.
• Trinity has just one previous matchup with Waldorf, during the 2013 Trojan Classic.
• The Warriors earned a 99-88 win over the Trojans in the second game of the 2013-14 season.

Last Time Out vs. Silver Lake
• Thomas Amrine led the way with a team-high 15 points, as three players finished with double figures, in Trinity's 82-68 victory over Silver Lake, on Nov. Nov. 6, 2015.
• Amrine knocked down four three-pointers, going 4-of-8 from long range. Grant Corsi finished with 13 points, while James Glass recorded ten.
• Zach Kirschbaum finished with a game-high 13 rebounds in the win, while Mead led the Trojans with four assists on the night. Jeremy Carlyle picked up four steals in his collegiate home opener.

Last Time Out vs. Waldorf
• Junior Nate Ball finished with his first double-double of the season, with a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds, but the Trojans were unable to come back from a 22-point hole at the half, as the Warriors earned a 99-88 win on Nov. 2, 2013.
• Four Trojans finished in double figures, including sophomore Sam Salem, who had 18 points, Justin Peeples with 16, and Thomas Amrine with 12. Peeples did most of his work from the free throw line, going a perfect 9-for-9 on the night.

Scouting the Opponents
• Silver Lake comes to Deerfield with a 1-5 overall record, coming off a 95-50 loss to Cardinal Stritch on Nov. 7.
• In their first season in the NAIA, the Lakers rank 3rd in total steals, led by Jordan Portee, who ranks 2nd in the NAIA with 17 total steals.
• Portee also leads the team with 18.3 points per game, and is shooting at a .409 clip from the field.
• Waldorf is off to a 1-3 start to the season, with their lone victory coming most recently, in an 84-80 win over Dordt (Iowa).
• Michael Morgan leads the Warriors with 15.8 points per game, and is 46th in the NAIA in rebounding, with 8.5 per game.

Trojans in the Polls
• Trinity International has appeared in the NAIA Division II Coaches Poll 21 times in program history, but not since the 1997-98 campaign.
• TIU's last ranking came on Jan. 6, 1998, when the Trojans came in at No. 20.
• The highest ranking in program history was during the 1995-96 season, when Trinity was at No. 3 in the Jan. 22, 1996 poll.
• This season, the Trojans placed 4th in the CCAC preseason ratings, with all three programs rated above Trinity earning spots in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll.

• The Trojans open conference play on Wednesday, November 16, when they visit the 22nd-ranked St. Xavier Cougars.
• Trinity then heads north to take on NCAA Division II foe Wisconsin-Parkside in an exhibition matchup on Saturday November 19.
