Senior guard
Rayelle Ross led the way once again, finishing with 13 points as the lone Trojan in double figures during the low-scoring affair.
After
Marlou Peters put Trinity (2-2) ahead with the game's opening bucket, Keiser responded with ten straight, as the Trojans missed on their next eight field goal attempts. Trinity would work their way back into the game, closing the gap to two with Ross' layup at the 1:45 mark of the first quarter, 11-9. The Seahawks' lead would swell back up to seven at the start of the second quarter, before two straight buckets from Ross brought Trinity back to within three, at 18-15 with 7:18 left in the first half.
Keiser would go into the halftime break with a 28-25 lead, but Ross would tie the game just ten seconds into the third quarter with a three.
Arielle Miree would give the Trojans the lead again on their next possession with a trey of her own. In all, a 10-1 run for TIU would mark the largest lead of the night, 35-29, as the defense held Keiser without a field goal over six and a half minutes to start the third quarter.Â
Leading by four heading into the fourth, Trinity couldn't find their shot, going until the 1:29 mark to hit their first field goal of the period. In that time Keiser moved back in front 47-42, when
Sarina Falvo made it a one-possession game with a three-pointer. The Seahawks would hit some key free throws down the stretch however, to hold on for the win.
The Trojans will now enter CCAC play next week, when they travel to face the 6th-ranked St. Xavier Cougars on Wednesday night, November 16th. Tipoff from the Shannon Center is set for 5:00 p.m.
