Tashyra Burrough led Trinity International in scoring for the first time this season, finishing with 14 points, but the 6th-ranked St. Xavier Cougars would use the long ball to secure a 102-62 win over the Trojans in the CCAC opener Wednesday night.

Trinity (2-3, 0-1 CCAC) shot a season-low 6-for-21 (28.6%) from three-point range, with Burrough hitting four of the six threes for TIU on the night.
Sarina Falvo and
Rayelle Ross each collected 12 points on the night, while freshman
Brookelyn Robertson came off the bench for a career-high nine points.
The Trojans took an early lead in the first period, going up 7-4 at the 7:42 mark, following four straight points from Ross. St. Xavier (4-0, 1-0 CCAC) would respond with an eight-point run to claim their first lead of the night, 12-7 midway through the first period. The Cougars would lead the rest of the day, doubling up the Trojans at the end of the first, 30-15.
SXU would score the first ten points of the second period to extend their lead, as Trinity went into the half trailing 58-31. The Cougars would hit 11 of 20 three-pointers in the first half, and shoot 51.5% from beyond the arc on the night overall.
Junior guard
Nika Bracun finished as the Trojans' leading rebounder, pulling down eight boards, while Falvo passed out a team-high three assists.
The Trojans return to Van Dixhorn Arena this weekend, when they host Holy Cross in CCAC action on Saturday, November 19. Tipoff with the Saints is set for 1:00 p.m.
