Senior wing
Grant Corsi finished with 30 points on the night, while
Zach Kirschbaum pitched in with 22 points as the duo contributed the majority of Trinity's offense. Kirschbaum also recorded his CCAC-leading 5th double-double of the season.
A 13-2 run for the Cougars (2-4, 1-0 CCAC) midway through the first half allowed the home team to build a double-digit lead, 29-18 at the 9:56 mark. St. Xavier would lead the rest of the way, including a 21-point halftime advantage, 62-41. St. Xavier continued to build their lead in the second half, and shot 56.3% from the field throughout the game, the highest percentage allowed by the Trojans (5-2, 0-1 CCAC) so far this year.
"That was as poor as we've played in two years," commented TIU head coach
Boomer Roberts after the game. "We didn't bring it anywhere close to the level that is needed against a conference opponent, and that's my fault. It's just one game and doesn't define what we're about, but we clearly have a lot of work to do. We have a lot of character in our locker room, and our guys will respond."
The Trojans will step outside of league play this weekend, with an exhibition matchup against NCAA Division II foe Wisconsin-Parkside. Tipoff from Kenosha, Wisc. on Saturday, November 19 is set for 3:00 p.m.
