HAMMOND, Ind. – Trinity International struggled at the plate Tuesday afternoon, falling in both ends of a doubleheader to the Purdue-Calumet Peregrines, 9-1 in a shortened five-inning game, and 11-2 in game two.

Valerie D'Ambrosio. Carli scored TIU's lone run, avoiding the shutout in the 5th inning on
Emily Doomis' sacrifice fly.
In game two, Tori Livingston and
Jamie Stanton each collected two hits, not including the Trojans' 5th-inning rally in which Trinity's 4- and 5-hitters reached base with a walk and fielder's choice, respectively. Purdue-Calumet (14-15, 3-1 CCAC) jumped out to a big lead, scoring in each of the first four innings, pacing the Trojans 8-0 through the 4th.
A leadoff walk and back-to-back singles in the top of the 5th set the table to
Alyssa Doomis' fielder's choice in which
Justine Wigboldy scored on an error. Livingston's free pass as the next batter brought home
Breanna Hansen, cutting into the Peregrienes' advantage. PUC would go on to score once more in the 6th and two more in the 7th to secure the doubleheader sweep.
The Trojans return home on Thursday afternoon, when they are scheduled to host the St. Ambrose Bees. First pitch on Thursday, April 14 is set for 3:00 p.m.
