MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Freshman pitcher
Taylor Carli struck out a career-high ten batters Friday afternoon, while junior
Jamie Stanton drove in a combined six RBIs, as Trinity International swept a road doubleheader, knocking off the Mount Mary (Wisc.) Blue Angels 11-4, and 5-3.

Mount Mary (2-12) took an early 3-2 lead in the 2nd inning with a two-RBI double before the Trojans moved in front for good in the top of the 3rd.
Stanton tied the game with an RBI triple, driving in
Alyssa Doomis to make it a 3-3 game. Two batters later, Carli reached on a fielding error, allowing Stanton to come home and give Trinity the 4-3 edge. Another error allowed Carli and Alison Naujokas to score before the end of the frame to put the Trojans in front by three.
In the 4th, Doomis added two more, with her second home run of the season, and the Trojans put the game out of reach with three more runs in the 6th en route to the 11-4 win.
Trinity jumped out to a big lead in the first inning of game two, scoring three times on four hits, with RBIs from Doomis, Stanton and Naujokas. An error and hit batter in the 4th allowed Mount Mary to get a run back on a single to right-center, 3-1. The Blue Angels then made a charge in the bottom of the 6th, pulling to within a run of the Trojans with a leadoff single and RBI double to start the inning. After an error put a runner on third, an RBI groundout made the score 4-3; a popout to end the inning got Trinity out of a jam with the lead intact.
Stanton added an insurance run with her sixth RBI of the day in the 7th, driving in Doomis with a two-out double. Carli closed the door in the bottom half of the inning to earn her first career save.
The Trojans jump back into conference play tomorrow afternoon, when they travel to face Judson. First pitch against the Eagles is set for 12:00 p.m.
