ELGIN, Ill. – Shortstop
Jamie Stanton hit her second home run of the season, but the junior's three-run shot would be all the offense on the day for Trinity International, who suffered a doubleheader sweep Saturday afternoon, falling to the Judson Eagles 5-3 in game one, and 11-0 in the nightcap.
Box Scores: Game 1 | Game 2 | Season StatsAfter Judson (22-15, 8-5 CCAC) took a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, the Trojans responded with a pair of singles from
Valerie D'Ambrosio and
Alyssa Doomis. That set the table for Stanton, who's long ball to left field put Trinity (9-21, 3-13 CCAC) in front 3-1.
The bats would go quiet throughout the rest of the game, as Trinity recorded just one more hit the rest of the game. Judson battled back to take the lead in the bottom of the 4th on their way to a 5-3 final.
In the second game of the day,
Emily Doomis' single with two outs in the 3rd was Trinity's only base hit in the run-rule shortened contest, as the Eagles put up six runs in the 4th to go up 11-0.
The Trojans return home on Wednesday, when they host the Olivet Nazarene Tigers. First pitch of the doubleheader on April 20 is set for 3:00 p.m.
