DUBUQUE, Iowa - A second-half goal from
Heather Ortiz proved to be the difference, as Trinity International recorded their first win of the early season with a 1-0 result at Clarke (Iowa) on Tuesday afternoon.

Clarke (1-1) controlled possession in the opening minutes, creating three scoring chances in the first ten minutes, but keeper
Surina Lewandowski made a pair of saves to keep the Crusaders off the board. The Trojans (1-2) eventually found their attacking rhythm, outshooting the home team 5-3 in the first half, and 15-4 over the course of the match.
Ortiz scored the lone goal of the day in the 54th minute, after Trinity forced three straight corner kicks to open the second half. Looking for the equalizer, Clarke managed just one shot over the final 35 minutes, which was off target.
The goal is the second of the season for Ortiz, and her first career game-winner. The sophomore has already matched her offensive output from her freshman campaign, and now has four career goals as a Trojan. Lewandowski picks up her first career win, along with her second career shutout.
The Trojans make their home debut this Saturday, when they welcome the Corban (Ore.) Warriors. Kickoff from Schartner Field is set for noon.
