LINCOLN, Ill. - Trinity International opened the fall baseball season Saturday afternoon with a pair of dominant performances, sweeping a doubleheader over the Lincoln Christian (Ill.) Lions, 4-0 and 6-3.

Senior 
Adam Gomski put up good numbers both at the plate and on the mound, going a combined 5-for-7 over both games, with a pair of doubles and two RBI. As the starting pitcher in game two, Gomski recorded his sixth career win, pitching five innings and striking out four.
Freshman pitcher Chris Isaac got the start in game one and didn't disappoint; the Monroe, N.C. native allowed just one hit through six and one-third innings, striking out six in a shutout victory. Mitchell Apple came on to finish off the Lions (0-2) for his first career save.
Trinity (1-0) took an early lead in the top of the first, when 
Alex Rodriguez led the game off with a single for left for his first base hit as a Trojan. Rodriguez would later score on a sac fly from Ethan Jarvis for the 1-0 edge.
In the top of the six the Trojans would tack on three insurance runs, as 
Jeff Lindberg, 
Michael Balistreri and Gomski would start the inning with three straight hits. Gomski's two-RBI double started the rally, while 
Justin VanderNaald collected his first RBI of the season on a groundout.
Lincoln Christian took the lead in the second game of the day, on two hits and an error in the bottom of the first. VanderNaald would even the score in the top of the 4th with a two-out single down the left field line, scoring Jacob Hood.
The Lions would again move in front with two runs in the 5th, but Trinity's rally in the top of the six would put up five runs and take the lead for good. The Trojans would bat around, with five singles along with a walk and LCU fielding error.
Jordan Alvernaz would pitch a perfect 6th, while Ethan Jarvis earned a save by going three up and three down in the 7th to secure the sweep.
The Trojans will close out the fall portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 8, with a doubleheader at Trinity Christian. First pitch with the Trolls is set for 1:00 p.m.
