DEERFIELD, Ill. - A triple-double from freshman setter
Kayla Jacks higlighted a thrilling five-set victory, as Trinity International split a pair of matchups on Saturday, defeating Life Pacific (Calif.) 3-2, before falling to Bethel (Ind.), 3-1.

Jacks hit .409 in the win, collecting 10 kills, 10 digs, and 30 assists to help give the Trojans (3-6) their second win in as many days.
Ashlyn Spay led the team with 12 kills, while five Trojans reached double-figure digs, led by Spay and
Becca Kowalczuk, who finished with 17.
Trinity took the first two games to take a comfortable lead before the Warriors mounted a comeback to force game five. Leading 23-19 in the opener, LPC rallied for four of the next five points, but a kill from Jacks closed out the set, 25-23. Trinity jumped out to an 11-4 edge in game two, but the Warriors battled back to within a point, 23-22. A service error gave the Trojans set point, which was finished off by
Lexie Voss' kill at 25-22.
A dominant win in game three by the visitors set up a tight fourth set, in which the Trojans took their first lead at 19-18 with a block from
Mickayla Staal. LPC inched ahead 23-21 before a service error and block from Stall and
Alida Knudtson tied the score, but the final two points would go to the Warriors, forcing a fifth game.
Kills from
Gabby Miller and Knudtson highlighted a quick 3-1 rally that put the Trojans in front 10-8. Life Pacific would answer with the next two points to tie the score, but five of the final six points would go to Trinity, closing out a 15-11 victory.
In the second match of the day, Spay would lead Trinity with eight kills, while Kowalczuk's 15 digs paced the Trojans. TIU would drop the opener to Bethel by a 25-16 margin, and trail late in game two, 22-17 before reeling off an 8-1 run to take the game and even the match at one set apiece.
Bethel jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the third, leading wire-to-wire and reclaiming the lead. In the fourth, the Pilots would lead by 22-16 before Trinity closed the deficit with five of the next seven points, but ran out of time as Bethel took the match on a block at match point, winning 25-21.
The Trojans travel to Lake Forest for their next match, on Tuesday, September 6. Tipoff against the Foresters is set for 7:00 p.m.
