After the visitors took the opening lead, Rayelle Ross and Brookelyn Robertson would score on back-to-back possessions, giving the Trojans (5-11, 2-8 CCAC) a lead they would hold the rest of the day. Trinity opened up a five-point advantage on Nika Bracun's three-pointer with 2:13 left in the first period, and would lead 16-11 through one quarter of play.

A 12-2 run midway through the second quarter, highlighted by five points apiece from Robertson and Tashyra Burrough, gave the Trojans their largest lead in the contest, 34-19 with 3:08 left in the first half. The Trolls would trim the deficit to nine, at 36-27 as Falvo paced the Trojans by scoring nine first-half points.

Trinity Christian made their best run of the day in the third quarter, scoring 12 unanswered to pull within a single point at the 5:40 mark. The Trojans responded with six straight of their own to pad the lead, but the visitors rallied again, and TIU would hold a two-point edge going into the fourth quarter, 46-44.

In the fourth, a pair of big three-pointers were knocked down by Falvo and Burrough midway through the period; Falvo's trey at the 6:45 mark kept the Trojans ahead by five, and Burrough ended a two-minute drought by giving TIU a six-point, 54-48 lead with 4:31 left to play. Falvo would also go 5-for-6 at the free throw line in the final 90 seconds to secure the win.

Burrough would finish with 15 points in the win, while Robertson posted nine. Falvo set a new career high, dealing out a game-high seven assists.

The Trojans will look to make it two in a row next Saturday, when they head south to face the Olivet Nazarene Tigers. Tipoff from Bourbonnais on Saturday, January 14 is set for 1:00 p.m.
