Men's Basketball earn road win over Lincoln Christian

Box Score LINCOLN, Ill. - After being down by seven points inside the final five minutes the TIU Men's Basketball team battled back for a hard fought road win, defeating Lincoln Christian 101-95 on Tuesday evening.

The Trojans got out to an early lead eight point lead in the first half, their largest lead of the entire game. The Red Lions held a 46-39 lead with just over a minute to play in the first half, but back to back three pointers from Jeremy Carlyle cut the defecit to one before the halftime break.

Trinity International found themselves trailing by 6 inside of the final five minutes, and that is where O'Shae Williams and Greg Carlyle stepped up to bring the Trojans back into the game.

A steal and score from Carlyle cut the defecit to four with 4:14 remaining in the game. The Red Lions would add a pair of baskets, but from then onWilliams took over for the Trojans offensivley in the final 4 minutes.  The Junior rattled off eight consecutive Trojans points to even the game at 94. A three point field goal from J. Carlyle and free throws from Tyrone Carey in the final two minutes would seal the road victory for the Trojans.

"These games are really good for our young, growing group. Lincoln Christian played so well, and were very well coached," said Head Coach Boomer Roberts. "It would have been easy for our guys to fold, but we rallied and strung together some fantastic possesions late."

"To be down seven with four minutes remaining, and come back to win it shows we have some grit," added Roberts. "Greg Carlyle was excellent, specifically defensviely and on the glass. O'Shae fought through foul trouble to take over late, and Ty and Jeremy each had huge plays down the stretch."

"We're going to keep getting everyone's best shot, so we will take it a day at a time and keep working to get better."

The Trojans return home this Saturday to take on Holy Cross College inside the Van Dixhorn Arena at 3:00 pm.
