KENOSHA, Wisc. - Taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather, Trinity International softball kicked off the 2017 season a few weeks early, taking on the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Trojans dropped both ends of the doubleheader, 8-0 in game one and 16-2 in game two.

The Rangers (2-6) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of the opening game, before tacking on one more run in the third and three in the fifth to end the game early. Junior first baseman
Emily Doomis had the Trojans' (0-2) lone hit in the contest, with a fourth-inning single.
Trinity's offense improved in game two, highlighted by a second-inning rally that tied the score at 2-2. After
Taylor Carli and
Josie Emricson reached base with on a single and fielder's choice, respectively, freshman right fielder
Tenley Bozzi singled to drive home the first run of the season.
Erika Vroman then scored Emricson on a groundout to even the score.
Parkside responded in the bottom half of the frame with a six-run rally to go ahead 8-2. Bozzi took over in the circle to pitch a scoreless bottom of the third, but the home team would put up eight runs in the fourth to secure the win.
The Trojans will now prepare for their Spring Break trip to Florida, where they will compete during the PFX Athletics Spring Games, beginning Mar. 4.
