The Trojans took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning of game two, when

Alyssa Doomis. St. Ambrose would get on the board in the 2nd inning, then go on to tie the game in the 6th with a two-out RBI triple.
After their first-inning rally, Trinity struggled at the plate, going 4-for-36 (.111) throughout the rest of the game as a team. The Trojans' best chance came in the top of the 9th when an error, walk and single would load the bases with one out. St. Ambrose would escape after forcing a ground ball to get the force out at home, then striking out the next hitter to end the inning.
The Bees would earn the walk-off win in the bottom of the 12th after a leadoff triple led to the game-winning run. The 12-inning contest is the longest game for TIU since Apr. 4, 2011, when the Trojans fell to North Park (Ill.) in 13 innings.
In the first game of the day, the Trojans would collect six base hits but were unable to push across a run in a 4-0 defeat.
Sophomore pitcher
Taylor Carli had a heavy workload, pitching the final two innings of game one and allowing just one hit before throwing all 12 innings of game two. Carli pitched a combined 13.1 innings on the day with just three earned runs and 10 hits overall.
Jessica Vroman and
Tenley Bozzi finished the day with a team-high three base hits over the two games, with Bozzi hitting her third double of the season in the 7th inning of game one.Â
The Trojans return home this weekend, when they host the Judson Eagles in a CCAC doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
