CHICAGO, Ill. - A tough start on Friday afternoon proved to be too much to overcome, as Trinity International struggled at the plate in a 10-0 loss at St. Xavier.

The Trojans (11-20, 3-12 CCAC) were shut out for the second consecutive game, the first time TIU has been held scoreless in back-to-back games since 2014. St. Xavier (19-21, 10-5 CCAC) struck for four runs on five hits in the 1st inning, then tacked on three more in the 2nd inning to take an early 7-0 lead.
Trinity's best chance came in the top of the 4th, when 
Jeff Lindberg and 
Adam Gomski hit a pair of singles, and 
Michael Balistreri drew a walk to load the bases with one out. The Trojans were unable to capitalize, as a popup and fielder's choice ended the threat.
Lindberg collected a season-high three base hits on the day, collecting three singles. Gomski finished 2-for-3 with a walk to also reach base three times.
The Trojans will close out the current series with St. Xavier when they return home Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
