DEERFIELD, Ill. - In their third straight game against a conference-leading team, Trinity International dropped the first of a three-game set with the Judson Eagles, 11-7 on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (30-14, 16-4 CCAC) took the lead in the game right at the start, as center fielder Alex Galik homered on the second pitch of the game to put the visitors ahead 1-0. Following another three runs in the top of the 3rd to increase their lead, Trinity (14-24, 5-15 CCAC) got on the board in the bottom half of the inning, when freshman Nick Gerht hit a two-out, two-RBI single to left, scoring

The Trojans struggled to keep pace with the visitors, as Judson would score multiple runs in four consecutive innings, building a an 11-3 lead through six innings. Trinity added a run in the bottom of the 5th, taking advantage of two walks and a wild pitch, as

Trinity rallied in the bottom of the 9th, scoring four runs to close the gap, but were unable to complete the comeback. Cordova drove in a career-best three RBI with a triple to straightaway center field, cutting the deficit to 11-7.
Coming in as a relief pitcher to start the 6th inning, Cordova had the Trojans' best day on the mound as well. The freshman allowed just one hit over three innings, keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard in the final third of the game.
The Trojans will wrap up the series tomorrow afternoon, when they travel to Judson for a doubleheader, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
