CHICAGO, Ill. - Trinity International had it's best performance at the plate in nearly a month on Saturday, cranking out a combined 11 runs as the Trojans split a doubleheader with St. Xavier, winning game one 6-2 before falling in game two, 6-5.

The Trojans (12-24, 8-14 CCAC) used a 5th inning rally to overcome a 1-0 deficit in game one, as
Payton Carli and
Jessica Vroman led the frame off with a pair of singles, and
Jamie Stanton walked to load the bases.
Alyssa Doomis' base hit would drive in two to give Trinity the lead, and RBI singles from
Emily Doomis and
Taylor Carli increased the TIU advantage to 4-1.
After the Cougars (20-22, 9-11 CCAC) scored a run in the top of the 6th, Trinity would add on two more in the bottom half of the frame, as
Payton Carli scored after a throwing error on Vroman's stolen base, and another RBI single from
Alyssa Doomis giving TIU a 6-2 lead.
Freshman pitcher
Grace Magnuson picked up her sixth win of the year, pitching five innings while allowing three hits and striking out five.
Taylor Carli came on in relief in the 6th inning, securing her third save of the year.
Trinity nearly had a sweep on the day, as a comeback rally in the bottom of the 7th came up just short in game two. Trailing 6-3 going into their final at-bat, the Trojans would load the bases with two outs, allowing
Taylor Carli to hit a two-RBI single through the right side of the infield, scoring Stanton and
Sara Grygus.
Jessica Vroman finished the day with a team-high four base hits, going 2-for-4 in each contest.
Alyssa Doomis drove in the most RBI for Trinity, including a three-RBI game one.
The Trojans now prepare for their final road game of the season, when they travel to face Robert Morris on Tuesday, April 25. First pitch with the Eagles is set for 4:00 p.m.
