BENSENVILLE, Ill. - Trinity International cranked out a season-high 15 hits in the first of two games on Tuesday afternoon, ultimately finishing the day with a split against the Robert Morris Eagles by winning game one 10-5, but falling in game two as the bats went cold, 7-2.

Six different players finished with multiple base hits in the first game of the day, as all nine Trojans in the lineup had at least one hit. Freshman
Payton Carli posted a career high with three RBI out of the leadoff spot.
The Trojans (13-25, 9-15 CCAC) came out strong, scoring in each of the first three innings. Carli gave TIU the early 1-0 lead after singling to lead off the 1st, then stealing second and third before scoring on
Jessica Vroman's fielder's choice.
Taylor Carli then doubled the lead in the 2nd by coming home on
Payton Carli's fielder's choice.
Trinity's first big rally came in the 3rd, when the Trojans attacked for four runs on four hits. Alyssa and
Emily Doomis, along with
Taylor Carli all recorded RBIs during the run.
Robert Morris would respond with four runs in the bottom of the 3rd, cutting the Trojan lead to 6-4.Â
In the top of the 5th,
Payton Carli helped to put the game away with a two-RBI triple to left center, scoring
Taylor Carli and
Tenley Bozzi for an 8-4 advantage.
Jamie Stanton would later double in the inning, scoring
Sara Grygus to go ahead 10-4.
Freshman pitcher
Grace Magnuson would pick up the win, pitching all seven innings and striking out five. Magnuson's seventh victory of the year matches
Taylor Carli's seven wins last season, as the most victories for a TIU pitcher since 2007.
In the second game of the day, Trinity would strike first, when
Payton Carli recorded her fourth RBI of the day with a two-out RBI single, scoring
Taylor Carli. Robert Morris (9-25, 7-15 CCAC) evened the score with a run in the bottom of the 4th, then took the lead with two unearned runs in the 5th to go ahead 3-1.
Jamie Stanton's two-out RBI double in the 6th inning would score Bozzi to cut into the deficit, but the Eagles would strike with four more runs in the 6th to earn the split.
The Trojans now prepare for the 2017 regular season finale on Saturday, when they host Mount Mary (Wisc.) on Senior Day. First pitch from the TIU Softball Field is set for 11:00 a.m.
