Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer fall to St. Xavier on late goal

DEERFIELD, Ill. - It was a cold and windy afternoon at Schartner Field and the TIU Men's Soccer team came up short in a crucial CCAC contest, suffering a 3-2 loss to St. Xavier on Wednesday afternoon.

The Trojans jumped on the front foot early in the game, with T.J. Cake scoring his first goal of the season just two minutes into the game after connecting on a pass from Nathaniel Michaelis.

After some back and forth action over the next 20 minutes the Trojans continued to get opportunities on goal, and it was Julian Raczka who found himself all alone and converted the breakaway to make it 2-0 Trojans.

Despite trailing 2-0 the Cougars would not go down without a fight, scoring just two minutes into the half to cut the defecit to 2-1.

SXU continued to get their opportunities on frame and eventually tied the game when Ricardo Aldape flicked a ball in on the near post that jus trickled over the goal line.

With just three minutes remaining in the game the Cougars netted what would be the game winner, a beautiful shot from distance to seal a 3-2 win over the Trojans.

TIU will look to bounce back as they travel to Palos Heights this Thursday to take on CCAC rival Trinity Christian College at 2:30 PM.
