DEERFIELD, Ill. - A dominant performance from the opening whistle, the TIU Women's Soccer team cruised to a 5-0 over Greenville University in the opening round of the NCCAA North Central Regional Tournament on Thursday afternoon.
Senior
Jillian Kolster, playing her final match on Schartner Field, opening the game with the Trojans first goal of the game in the 3rd minute. Kolster converted on a shot inside the box after a feed from
Kylie Bowman to give TIU the early lead.
Dominating the possession the majority of the half the Trojans could not seem to extend their lead, despite firing 19 shots in the opening half. With the clock dwindling down the first 45 minutes the Trojans finally broke through, with
Heather Ortiz scoring the games second goal in the 44th minute.
The Trojans continued their offensive successes in the second half, scoring three more goals in the final half of play. Ortiz, Kolster, and
Shayne Busick all found the score sheet to help the Trojans to a 5-0 win.
The Lady Trojans finish the 2018 season with a 7-0-1 record on Schartner Field, while outscoring their opponents 36-2 at home.
TIU will now travel to Palos Heights, Ill. to take on Trinity Christian College at 11 AM with a trip to the 2018 NCCAA National Tournament on the line.Â
