Women's Soccer win late over ONU in CCAC Quarterfinals

DEERFIELD, Ill. - In their second consecutive matchup with Olivet Nazarene the TIU Women's soccer team closed out a late win over the Tigers in the opening round of the CCAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams had their opportunities in the opening half to take an early lead, but neither side was able to find the back of the net despite each having 10 shots.

The Tigers came out of the gates quickly in the second half, scoring the games first goal in the 54th minute. Lauren Harrigan played a long ball over the top of the Trojan defense that Sarah Buffum slotted home to give ONU a 1-0 lead.

Despite trailing 1-0 the Lady Trojans showed their resilliency once again and tied the game just 7 minutes later. Senior Kylie Bowman played a beautiful ball into the box that found the feet of Jillian Kolster who found the back of the net to tie the match.

With both sides battling in the final minutes the game seemed destined for overtime, but Kolster once again had the ball inside the box, and was eventually taken down giving the Trojans a penalty kick opportunity with 5:17 remaining.

Senior Captain Rachel Conrady stepped up to the spot and calmly finished the spot kick in the bottom corner to give TIU a 2-1 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The Trojans will now move onto the semi-finals of the CCAC Tournament and take on #19 Trinity Christian on Wednesday afternoon.
