PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - In their second matchup of the season with Trinity Christian College the Lady Trojans came up just short of handing the Trolls their second oss of the season, suffering a penalty kick shootout loss on Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans got out to a quick start early in the game, weathering the early press from TCC and finding the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Senior
Jillian Kolster scored her team high 10th goal of the season in the 21st minute.
The Trolls quickly battled back after dropping the early goal, eventually equalizing the game 5 short minutes later in the 26th minute.
For the remainder of the game the Trojans and Trolls each had their opportunities, but battled to a 1-1 draw through regulation and two overtime periods.
In the shootout, the Trojans and Trolls traded converted attempts but a saved shot on Trinity's last spot kicked all but sealed the shootout win for TCC. The Trolls will now advance to the CCAC Tournament Championship.
Despite the loss the Lady Trojans will now turn their attention towards NCCAA postseason play, with regional opponents and scheduling to be decided over the next few days. Stay up to date with all Women's Soccer postseason information at tiutrojans.com.
