Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

#21 Trojans split in weekend matchups at Lancer Invite

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - With two games on tap over the weekend the TIU Men's Basketball team split their two games, suffering a 2OT loss to Cincinnati Christian on Friday evening before cruising to a win over Miami-Hamilton on Saturday morning.

It was a tough night shooting for TIU in their opening game of the weekend, as the Trojans would shoot just 38% from the field on the night.

With opportunities down the stretch the Trojans came close to putting the Eagles away at the end of regulation, but struggled to get to the basket.

With the game heading to overtime TIU would lead by two with 8 seconds to go, but the Eagles once again stormed back to tie the game and send it to a second overtime. In the second OT it was all CCU, outscoring TIU 17-9 in rout to handing TIU their first loss of the season.

Jamal Bailey would finish the night with a team high 29 points in the loss.

Despite losing their first game of the weekend the Trojans bounced back for a dominant win on Saturday morning, crushing the University of Miami-Hamilton 106-67 on Saturday morning.

Nate Schmidt was the star for the Trojans against the Redhawks, racking up 24 points while going 8-11 from behind the three point line.

Bailey and Brandon Lawani also had solid performances for TIU, each tallying 15 points in the win, with Bailey finishing a rebound short of a triple-double.

The Trojans will look for another win on Wednesday when they host #5 Indiana Tech inside the Van Dixhorn Arena at 7 PM.
