MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - in a thrilling five set match to open the CCAC Tournament the #4 seeded TIU Volleyball team closed out a 3-2 win over #5 seeded Cardinal Stritch on Tuesday evening.
The Trojans got off to a solid start ot open the match, taking the opening game 26-24 in a tightly fought battle.
Despite trailing early the wolves should resiliency by winning the second game of the match 25-18 by taking advantage of 8 Trojan errors.
The back and forth action continued the rest of the way, with both sides winning one more set each, sending the match to a deciding fifth set.
With all the momentum on the home side the Lady Trojans dug deep, eventually taking a commanding 8-3 that they would never relinquish. A
Brianna Torres kill sealed the Trojans first CCAC Tournament win since 2009.
Torres was a catalyst all night for the Trojans offensively, tallying a match high 16 kills in the victory.

Sam Brenneman, and
Matty Hawkins each had solid performances for TIU on the evening, registering double digit kills for TIU.
With the victory, the Trojans will move on to the CCAC Tournament semi-finals on Thursday when they take on the #1 seeded St. Xavier Cougars inside the Shannon Center at 7 PM.
