DEERFIELD, Ill. - In a battle of two of the more successful team in the CCAC in recent memory the TIU Men's Basketball team came out on top in a low scoring affair, defeating Robert Morris University 73-65 on Saturday afternoon.
Seniors
Jeremy Carlyle and
Greg Carlyle along with Junior
Jamal Bailey once again pur forth solid games for TIU, each finishing the game with 15+ points. Bailey was the leading scorer on the game, tallying 18 points and 9 rebounds, one board short of his third double-double of the season.
The opening half of the game saw the Trojans and Eagles battle back and forth, trying to grab a hold of the game early. With the Eagles leading by four late in the half, back to back buckets from Bailey and Donald Watkins Jr. helped get the Trojans on track and eventually lead 39-30 at the break.
The second half saw much of the same, with both sides battling it out and having the opportunity to take control of the game. Leading down the stretch the Trojans knocked down multiple clutch free throws and out rebounded the Eagles in the final 20 minutes to hold on for a hard fought 73-65 win.
The Trojans will look to make it three wins in a row when they travel to South Bend, Indiana next Saturday to take on Holy Cross College.
