CHICAGO, Ill. - In a matchup with one of the top teams in the country the TIU Women's Basketball team came up short on the road, suffering a 75-57 to St. Xavier University on Wednesday evening.
Three Trojans finished the game in double figures, as
Krystal Walker,
Alina Jahnke, and
Katrin Kreiner all registered 10+ points in the loss. Walker and Kreiner each finished with a team high 11 points.
The Cougars opened the game on a 14-0 run through the first 6 minutes of the game. After trailing early the Trojans struggled to get back into the game.
Kylee Daniels knocked down the Trojans opening bucket of the game but the hot shooting Cougars continued on their torrid pace, scoring 49 points in the opening half and led TIU 49-22 at the break.
The second half saw a much better performance from TIU as the Trojans outscored SXU 35-26, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.
TIU will now look to bounce back this weekend when they travel to South Bend, Indiana to take on Holy Cross College.
