PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill.— The TIU softball team earned an impressive sweep against the TCC Trolls, defeating them 2-1 and 4-3 on the afternoon of Thursday, April 12 at TCC in Palos Heights.
1st Game:
The Trojans took the lead early on, scoring two runs in the first inning.
Freshman Lauren Neveau had a solid day both offensively and defensively, going 2 for 3 at the plate and earning three putouts as well.
Sophomore Jessica Vroman scored the first run of the game off of Neveau's single, and Neveau then scored the second run from sophomore Sara Grygus's hit.
Junior Taylor Carli pitched a strong game, allowing only four hits and one run in seven innings and throwing for four strikeouts as well.

2nd Game:
Neveau again picked up an RBI in the first inning to score sophomore Payton Carli and start the second game with the early lead. Â
Freshman Gina Loy batted in the second run of the game, scoring sophomore Tenley Bozzi early in the 2nd. Roman quickly followed by hitting a single which scored Loy, making the score 3-0.
The Trolls responded with a homer and two more quick runs scored in the third, tying up the score at 3-3.
However, TCC fell short as they gave E. Doomis an unearned run in the top of the third, and weren't able to score another run after.
T. Carli and sophomore Grace Magnuson both shared time on the pitcher's mound throughout the game, combining for eleven hits, three runs, and four strikeouts over the course of the contest.
The Trojans look to add another sweep to their record as they travel to face Saint Xavier University in a doubleheader at 12:00 and 2:00 on this Saturday, April 14th.
