DEERFIELD, Ill. - On a chilly day in Deerfield the TIU Baseball team put together two solid efforts performances but couldn't grab a victory after suffering a pair of defeats to Olivet Nazarene on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans offense manufactured a run early in game one, capitalizing on a
Brendan Lacey double in the Top of the 1st. After the Lacey double
Luis Henriquez picked up hist first RBI of the day, driving in Lacey to give TIU the 1-0 lead.
After taking the early lead the Tigers rattled off six straight runs before the Trojans were able to find the scoreboard again. Trailing 6-1
Matt Pierson drove in a run with an infield single but yet again the Tigers would respond. ONU would add four more runs and close out a 10-3 victory in game one.
Game two saw much of the same from both sides, with ONU picking up their second win of the day, defeating the Trojans 7-2.
Like the Trojans in game one ONU got out to the fast start in the second game, scoring four runs in the opening inning. The Trojans continued to battle back after scoring two runs of their own in the 1st to cut into the defecit.
Despite fighting their way back into the game Olivet continued their strong day at the plate, scoring three more runs in the remaining innings and handing the Trojans a 7-2 loss.
The Trojans look to get back on track on Monday when they host Roosevelt University at 3 PM.
