LAKE WALES, Fla. - In their opening two matches of the Warner University Labor Day Invite the Lady Trojans suffered two tough losses, a 3-2 defeat to Florida College, and a 3-0 loss to Warner University on Friday afternoon.
After dropping the opening set of the match the Trojans bounced back with wins in sets two and three, but a fierce rally from Florida College in the fourth and fifth set handed the Trojans their first loss in over a week.
In the first match of the day
Madeline Decker put forth her best effort of the season, finishing with 16 kills to lead the Trojans in a hard fought five set defeat. Freshman
Brianna Torres once again posted a double-double, finishing the match with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Just a few short hours later in match number two on the day the Trojans faced off against the host Warner Royals. The Royals came out of the gate quickly in the opening set and never looked back. The Royals would take the opening set 25-23, and used the momentum to dominate the second set 25-13. Warner took advantage of four Trojan errors in the third anf final set to win a 26-24 nail biter that closed out the game.
The Trojans are back in action tomorrow as they try and pick up their first wins of the tournament, facing off against St. Thomas University, and McPherson University.
