Trojan Football suffers homecoming loss to ONU

DEERFIELD, Ill. - The high powered offense of ONU was too much for the Trojans to handle on Saturday, suffering a tough 77-28 loss to Olivet Nazarene University on homecoming weekend.

The Tigers opened the scoring early, driving 67 yards down the field on only 7 plays to take an early 7-0 lead. The Tigers would tack on another touchdown before the Trojans found the scoreboard as Jonathan Santos found Jimmy Campbell in the end zone for his first score of the year to make it 14-7.

After the Trojans cut the deficit in half it was all ONU from there on forward. The Tigers tacked on three more touchdowns throughout the remainder of the first half to take a commanding 35-7 lead into the locker room.

In the second half the turnover bug that the Trojans have struggled with all season long came back once again as the Tigers scored off of two Trojan turnovers, including a scoop and score form 30 yards out and an 84 yard pick six return.

TIU would add two more touchdowns in the half, a Justin Members rushing score and a Davonta Archer touchdown catch, but the early and often scoring form ONU was too much for the Trojans to overcome in a 77-28 loss.

Defensively for the Trojans Brad Mowbray was a star and seemed to be everywhere on the field. The Senior finished with a team high 14 tackles, including a tackle for loss, sack, and pass breakup.

The Trojans will look to bounce back in a few weeks when they host St. Xavier University on October 13th on Frazier Field.
