DEERFIELD, Ill. - In a battle with one of the top teams in the CCAC the Lady Trojans came up just short, falling 3-1 to (RV) St. Xavier University inside the Van Dixhorn Arena on Thursday evening.
The Cougars opened the match with a decisive first set win. SXU dominated early, never letting the Trojans get within more than three points through the majority of the game. The Cougars would go on to take the opening set 25-16.
After dropping the opening game TIU stormed back with a solid performances, closing out a 25-21 win to even the match. Freshman
Brianna Torres would finish the set with 5 of her 15 kills, good enough for the team high in the match.
Despite gaining the momentum after evening the match a one set a piece, the Cougars once again showed why they're one of the top teams in the country, eventually sweeping the final two sets of the match.
The Lady Trojans will look to bounce back tomorrow as they play two matches at 3 PM and 7 PM in the opening day of the Trojan Invite.
