DEERFIELD, Ill. - A furious rally in the final sets of the match fell just short on Saturday as the TIU Women's Volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss to William Penn University on the final day of the 2018 Trojan Invite.
The Statesmen came out of the gates quickly to open the match, taking the first two sets 25-16 and 25-12.
Despite trailing 2-0 early the Trojans put their resiliency on full display, fighting their way right back into the match.
The Lady Trojans would win the next two sets, thanks to the strong play of Briana Torres and
Madeline Decker. The two combined for double digit kills to even the match 2-2.
In the fifth and final set WPU was able to close things out on TIU, defeating the Trojans 15-9 and ending the late rally from TIU.
TIU is back in action this Tuesday when they host Cardinal Stritch University at 7 PM inside the Van Dixhorn Arena.
