DAVENPORT, Iowa - Taking on one of the top teams in the CCAC the TIU Women's Basketball team came up just short to the Bee's, falling 70-59 to SAU on Saturday afternoon.
TIU opened the game with a strong 1st Quarter, totaling 18 points and holding SAU to just 14 to take an early lead
Despite the strong start to the first half the Trojans shot went cold in the second quarter of play, only registering 9 points, and trailing 33-27 at the halftime break.
SAU showed why they are one of the top teams in the country during the second half, firing on all cylinders, and building a late lead after going 13-16 from the free throw line.
Bridgette Smith did all she could, totaling a season high 14 points in 14 minutes to bring the Trojans within a few points but some late baskets from the Bee's sealed the victory over TIU.
The Trojans will look to pick up their second CCAC on Wednesday when they host Governors State at 5:30 PM.
