Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late comeback not enough as Trojans fall to Governors State

DEERFIELD, Ill. - Despite a ferocious comeback late in the second half the TIU Men's Basketball team came up just short of another CCAC victory, suffering a 80-74 loss to Governors State on Wednesday afternoon.

Jamal Bailey led the Trojans in scoring on the evening, tallying 19 points. Jeremy Carlyle recorded his first double-double of the season, finishing with 18 points and 10 assists while his brother Greg Carlyle added 14 points of his own to round out the top Trojan performers.

After trailing 39-36 at the halftime break the Jaguars came out of the gates quickly in the second half, going on an early 7-0 run to take a commanding lead early in the half. After struggling to get things going offensively the Jaguars continued their torrid pace, leading 70-50 with 6:48 to play.

After a timeout called by TIU the Trojans rattled off an 11-0 run to get right back into the game. The Trojans would get within four points with 56 seconds to go, but a Robbie Brooks jumper sealed the win for GSU with under a remaining.

TIU will look to snap their three game losing streak when they take on Roosevelt University on Saturday afternoon.
