BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The Trinity International University women's soccer team placed host to the Trinity Christian College Trolls in Deerfield on Wednesday afternoon at Schartner Field.
In a battle of perennial conference powers, the Trolls entered the match ranked 17th in the NAIA after starting the season 10-0 with a 5-0 record in conference play. Additionally, TCC came to Deerfield as the defending NCCAA national champions from a season ago. Fresh off a win at Saint Xavier, the Trojans looked to capitalize on their momentum against a tough opponent.
While TIU had just three shots on goal the entire game, they only needed one as Hannah Fuchs would score the only goal of the match early in the fourth minute of play off a great pass from Lauren Henn. From there, the Trojan defense led by Fatima Bustamante and goalkeeper Rebecca Wells, who recorded five saves on the day, refused to allow the Troll offense to penetrate the box. The win marks TIU's fourth consecutive victory, as well as their fourth straight shutout.
The Trojans look to keep their winning streak alive as they take on the Holy Cross College Saints on Wednesday, October 16 at Schartner Field at 4:00PM.
