Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

TIU falls to #22 Cardinal Stritch, 6-0

BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The Trinity International University men's soccer team played host to the No. 22 Cardinal Stritch Wolves in wet conditions in Deerfield on Tuesday afternoon for their fourth conference matchup of the season.

The Wolves represented their national ranking well as they dominated the scoreline after four first half goals with a hat trick from Camil Ruiz, who used the wet conditions to his advantage skipping the ball well to cause trouble for goalkeeper Andre Wentzel. Ruiz would record his three goals in the first 23 minutes of play, and also tallied two assists to Salvador Nunez in the 27th minute and 50th minute.

Cardinal Stritch would add two second half goals to take the match 6-0 with the final goal coming from Michael Vogel in the 75th minute after a poor clearance from the back line left him a gift to bury it into the net.

The Trojans showed possession throughout the match, but did not have many opportunities as they were held to just six shots in the day compared to the Wolves' 21 shots. The shutout marks the third consecutive game without a goal for the TIU as they sit with two points in conference play.

TIU returns to action on Saturday, October 5 as they travel to Chicago to challenge the St. Xavier Cougars at 8:00 PM.
