Trojans tie Saint Francis, 1-1

BANNOCKBURN, ILL.--- The Trinity International University men's soccer team took on the University of Saint Francis Fighting Saints on Saturday afternoon at Schartner Field in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play. Coming off a tough loss earlier in the week to Holy Cross, the Trojans looked to get back on track against a talented USF team.

The Saints would strike first early in the first half Sergio Peres found Jorge Navas on a pass from the left side, who found the back of the net just past TIU goalkeeper Daniel Hill in the sixth minute to take an early lead. The Trojans would have eight total shots in the half but were unable to capitalize in the first 45 minutes.

After multiple offensive possessions in the second half, the Trojans broke through in the 74th minute as Luka Eric connected with Josiah Fuchs, who scored from just outside the box to tie the game at a goal a piece. Tied at the end of regulation, TIU and USF went to overtime, where both teams took four shots a piece with no success. Despite a number of close shots nearly finding the net, the Trojans and Saints ended both ten minute overtime periods without a goal, ending the match in a 1-1 tie.

With four CCAC matches remaining in the regular season, the Trojans travel to Bourbannias on Wednesday, October 23 to take on the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers. Kickoff is set for 6:30PM.
