Trojans fall on Senior Day to Wildcats

BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The Trinity International University football team played host to the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats at Leslie Frazier Field on Saturday afternoon as the Trojans honored their six senior players on senior day.

On a day where rain and a cold breeze would play a factor, both TIU and IWU opted for a heavy running game to avoid errors passing through the air. It would be the Wildcats running game that dominated play as they broke through the TIU defensive line en route to a 66-0 win over the Trojans.

Indiana Wesleyan would score on all but three of their 13 offensive possessions, including nine touchdowns. Wildcats quarterback Zach Blair accounted for four of those touchdowns through the air with the wind at his back. Running backs Jesse Deglow and Wade Phillips would also find the endzone on the ground as well.

Starting at quarterback for the Trojans, Darrius Henderson completed ten of 20 passes and threw for 44 yards and one interception. On an afternoon where the Trojans hoped to push the ball forward in the running game, TIU was stopped short as the IWU defense held the Trojan running game to -10 net yard. Senior Isaac Branch would lead TIU with 30 yards on 13 carries. Defensively, Robbie Campbell totaled five tackes, while Vakarvery Scott and Mario Williams each had four tackles.

The Trojans return to the gridiron next Saturday, November 2 on the road as they visit the Robert Morris Eagles at Morris Field in Chicago. Kickoff is set for 7:00PM under the lights.
