Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Trojan men's soccer beats Jaguars, 2-1

UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. --- The TIU Trojan men's soccer team took on the Governors State Jaguars on Tuesday night in hopes to capture a win and make an impact on the conference standings.

TIU started strong and applied pressure, but the Jaguars did the same and kept pace with the Trojans. Both teams would have seven shots in the first half, but neither team would capitalize on any chances.

The second half showed more opportunities that were taken advantage of as the first goal came after a service from Josiah Fuchs found Zach Mawdsley to head the ball into the back of the net in the 51st minute. TIU would march down just five minutes later and earn a free kick to give Fuchs his chance to net one and put the Trojans up 2-0.

Although the Trojans held the two goal lead for a while, the Jaguars would earn a penalty kick in the 73rd minute, taken by Papa Thiam to pull one back for the Jaguars.

Although Thiam's goal brought Governors state back into it, it was not enough to get level with the Trojans, thus giving TIU their second win in the conference season.

The Trojans will travel to Arlington Heights to take on the Robert Morris Eagles on Saturday, November 2 in their final game of the season. Kick off is set for 2:30PM.
