Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Trojans win against Roosevelt

BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The Trinity International University women's basketball team took on the Roosevelt Lakers on Wednesday night in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action. Coming off a difficult loss at Governors State the weekend earlier, the Trojans looked to get back in the win column.

After both teams were held scoreless for the first four minutes of play, TIU was outscored 11-6 in the first quarter. From there, the Trojans began to turn momentum in their favor. Despite a tough shooting night, it was the Trojan defense, led by Krystal Walker's ten rebounds that helped TIU pick up their fifth win of the season, including their second in CCAC competition.

TIU would outscore the Lakers in the third quarter 17-8 to open a comfortable lead. While Roosevelt closed the gap in the final minutes, the Trojans locked down defensively once again to hold on for the four point win, 45-41.

The Trojans were led in scoring by sophomore forward Alina Jahnke with 12 points and seven rebounds.  TIU recorded ten points off of turnovers and 16 points in the paint.

The Lady Trojans face off against the Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees this Saturday November 23 in Davenport, Iowa. Tip off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
