Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

TIU women's basketball falls at St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa --- The Trinity International University women's basketball team took on the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees on Saturday afternoon in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action. Coming of a narrow four-point win earlier in the week on a tough shooting night against Roosvelt, the Trojans looked to put together another win.

Both teams kept the game close throughout the first quarter. Carly Scheblo and Taylor Hibicke would push the TIU offense inside the paint and force the Bees into tough mid-range shots. In the second quarter, Alina Jahke and Kassandra Ybarra got in on the action as they helped TIU extend the lead. However SAU would find a groove inside the lane to tie the game and pull ahead. The Bees would go ahead by eight points as the team's headed to the locker room for halftime, leading the Trojans 36-28.

SAU would open the second half up with a 6-0 run to take a 14-point lead. While the Trojans were able to hold the Bees to just one three-point basket, TIU was unable to convert their shot from beyond the arc themselves, shooting 2-13 on the day. With SAU outscoring the TIU bench 32-26, the Bees were able to hold off the Trojans to defeat TIU, 82-68.

Hibicke led TIU with 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists in the game, while Jahke notched 11 points and seven boards, and Scheblo recorded 10 points and five rebounds in the loss.

The Trojans return to action as they host the Robert Morris University Eagles at Van Dixhorn Arena on Tuesday, November 26. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
