MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Looking to even the series with a pair of games against Florida Memorial, the TIU Baseball team came up short in their efforts, suffering a pair of losses to the FMU, losing 11-4 and 11-0 to the Lions on Thursday afternoon.
With Senior
Jordan Alvernaz on the mound for the Trojans, TIU jumped out to an early lead after a pair of stolen bases from
Matt Pierson and
Enyel Santana made it 1-0 TIU in the top of the 1st.
After the Lions put up four unanswered runs in the Trojans answered back to keep themselves in the game, after
Matt Pierson drew a bases loaded walk to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Despite close game the offensive fire power of the Lions came to life, as FMU rattled off 8 unanswered runs all in the 5th inning to seal the victory in Game 1.
In the second game of the day the Trojans once again struggled with the offense of FMU, suffering an 11-0 loss to the Lions. The Trojans were outhit 15-1 by FMU with Santana registering the only Trojan hit.
TIU is back in action this weekend as they wrap up their Florida swing with a three game series against Trinity Bible College on Friday and Saturday.
