Baseball splits home doubleheader with Crimson Wave

DEERFIELD, Ill. - After defeating the Crimson Wave on Friday afternoon the TIU Baseball team added another victory over CCSJ, with a 9-3 win in game one, before suffering a 10-8 loss in the second game of the day.

CCSJ opened game one with three runs in the first inning, taking advantage of two Trojan errors to jump out to the early lead.

Despite trailing early the Trojans offense found their groove in the late innings of the game, with Luis Henriquez leading the charge. The Sophomore belted a RBi double down the left field line to get the Trojans on the board. RBI's from Blake Lazaris and Emmanuel Andujar tied the game 3-3 heading to the 6th.

After a scoreless frame from Mitchell Apple in the top of the 6th once again it was Henriquez who sparked the Trojan offense, as the Sophomore ripped a bases clearing triple to right field to give the Trojans a lead they would not relinquish.

In game two, the defensive struggles that have plagued TIU all year long, with the Trojans making 8 errors in the game, eventually leading to a 10-8 win for CCSJ.

Lance Louchheim led the Trojan offense, going 3-5 with two RBI's in the loss.

The Trojans are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they host the University of St. Francis at 3 PM.
