DEERFIELD, Ill. - Looking to add another CCAC win to their season total the TIU Baseball team came up short in their efforts, suffering a 13-3 loss to the Saints on Tuesday afternoon.
USF came into the game as the hottest team in the CCAC, and the Trojans saw why early. The Saints opened the game by rattling off eight hits and six runs to take an early 6-0 advantage.
Down early the Trojans offense found some life in the middle innings, scoring three runs of their own to get right back into the game, with the bases loaded Senior
Michael Balistreri took a fastball off the leg to drive in the Trojans first run of the game. An RBI single from
Michael Luker and a sacrifice fly from
Matt Latimer made it a 6-3 game heading into the 3rd inning.
From that point on the Saints offense continued to find the hit column, as USF rattled off seven unanswered runs to close out a 13-3 win over TIU.
The Trojans will look to bounce back on Friday when they hit the road to take on CCAC rival Trinity Christian College.
