GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Looking to wrap up their final road trip of the season on a high note the TIU Softball earned a doubleheader split with the Cornerstone Eagles, losing 12-0 before a 4-0 defeat of CU on Tuesday afternoon.
After struggling in all facets of the game in the opening tilt of the two game set, the Lady Trojans bounced back withe a much needed 4-0 victory in game two.
Taylor Carli once again was the difference maker inside the circle for TIU, allowing just six hits and firing a complete game shutout.
After three scoreless innings from both sides the Trojans got things rolling in the 4th when
Britney Knox drew a bases loaded hit by pitch to give the Trojans a lead they would not relinquish.
Knox would continue her strong performance in the 6th inning when TIU tallied a trio of runs to seal the win. Knox drove an RBI single into center field to make it a 2-0 game, then followed by a pair of Eagle errors that pushed TIU ahead for good.
The Trojans are back in action for the regular season finale next Monday when they host Mount Mary University at 3 PM.
