SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Looking to snap a short four game losing streak the TIU Softball team suffered a pair of tough losses to the Titans of Indiana South Bend, falling 8-5 and 4-3 to IUSB on Friday afternoon.
In th opening game of the two game set the Trojan offense got off to a hot start, tallying three runs in the opening inning of the game.
Hannah Gentry led the Trojans off with an RBI Double that score
Jessica Vroman to get things going for TIU, and not long after did
Lauren Neveau connect on a RBI sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
Sara Grygus eventually followed it up with a line drive in an RBI single give TIU the early advantage.
IUSB continued to battle throughout the middle innings, eventually taking a 5-3 lead after a big second inning.
The Trojans added a pair of runs in the 3rd innings thanks to another Neveau sacrifice fly and Vroman RBI single.
Despite tying the game 5-5 the Titan offense continued to flourish as they added three more runs in the late innings to close out an 8-5 game one victory.
In game two the Titans opened the contest with the games first run, but again the Trojans were there to battle right back. Trailing 1-0 in the top of the 3rd inning
Brooke Heraty ripped a two RBI single up the middle to give TIU the early advantage.
IUSB added a run in the 5th but the Trojans showed their resilience once again in this back and forth affair. Neveau hit a hard groundball to short that was botched by the Titans, eventually giving TIU the lead.
In the late innings the Titans continued to rally, tying the game in the 6th before walking off on an RBI triple in the 7th to close out the sweep.
The Trojans will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they hit the road again to take on the St. Ambrose Bee's in an afternoon DH.
