The Trinity International men's soccer team took on the Indiana Northwest Redhawks on Tuesday night under the lights at the Crown Point Sports Complex in Gary.
TIU took the field having had a restful week without any competition in order to prepare for the game at hand. The Trojans preparations and rest paid off as TIU defeated the Red Hawks 6-1. Junior captain Josiah Fuchs kicked off the big night for the Trojans early in the first minute of the game delivering TIU their first goal, being assisted by Tyler Kooi and Caleb Wells.
Fuchs would have another goal in the 63rd minute to complete Trinity's scoring, and would also have three assists on the day, all to Jorge Vasquez, who would finish with a hat trick in the win. Kooi would have his own goal also assisted by Wells to start the second half. Wells would also tally three assists in the match as well to contribute to TIU's success. The Trojans would allow one goal in the win as Indiana Northwest's Anthony Mako would score in the 84th minute to avoid the shutout.
TIU returns home to host St. Ambrose University on Saturday, September at 2:30 PM for their conference opener at Schartner Field as part of the Trojan homecoming festivities.
