Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

TIU dual Bees to 2-2 tie

BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The Trinity International University men's soccer team took on Saint Ambrose University in Deerfield on Saturday to kick off conference play for the Trojans. The less than ideal field conditions after a downpour of rain would cause trouble for both teams as the slick surface would play a factor in maintaining possession.

The Fighting Bees started quickly slipping the first goal behind TIU goalkeeper Andre Wentzel after a short corner kick led to a deflected shot into the top corner of the goal from Alex Garcia-Chagolla in the sixth minute.

Josiah Fuchs would level the Trojans as just five minutes later when a through ball from Jorge Vasquez would skip past the goalkeeper, back to Fuchs who would put one away in the empty net.

The game would go back and forth but would be dominated by TIU as a sloppy foul from St. Ambrose would lead to a laser service from Josiah Fuchs to Caleb Wells, who would deflect it just past the goalkeeper in the 28th minute. The Trojans held their 2-1 lead until Nathan Lukasik would be gifted a sitter to even the score line in the 73rd minute.

The game would go into extra time and end in a draw after Wentzel would receive a last second shot that would be saved just inches from the goal line as time expired, saving the point for the Trojans.

The Trojans travel to take on Roosevelt University on Wednesday, September 25, with hopes to capture a win after last year's draw. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM on Illinois Institute of Technology's Keating Sports Center field.
