The Trinity International University men's soccer team took on Roosevelt University in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon in search of their first conference win of the season, after tying with St. Ambrose the previous weekend.
TIU had difficulties maintaining possession as the Lakers pressure took the Trojans out of the game. Two set piece goals led to the three points for Roosevelt from a goal in the 18th minute by Edmond Montano from a corner kick service from Jose Solis set Montano, with a perfect header opportunity to open the scoring for the Lakers.
Later in the half, Albert Arabik would be gifted a penalty kick after a tackle from the back line. Arabik would finish in the bottom left corner to put the Lakers up 2-0 in the 42nd minute.
The Trojans would not have many opportunities as the Laker defense refused to let the Trojans in on goal, giving Mario Graciano the full game shut-out as TIU fell 2-0 to drop to 3-3-1 on the season.
The Trojans head to Indiana on Saturday, September 28 to face Calumet College of St. Joseph. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM.
