The Trinity International University women's volleyball team rallied from down two sets to one to win at Governors State University on Tuesday night in University Park, 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23,15-5.
With an eight game win streak on the line, the Governors State Jaguars didn't make it easy on the Lady Trojans. With the first four sets going back and forth and being very tightly contested, the TIU Trojans regrouped for the fourth set behind a well executed defensive gameplan. The Trojans would open the fifth set on a 5-0 run and wouldn't look back en route to the win.
Brianna Torres led the way on offense with 16 kills, followed closely by Matty Hawkins with 14. Fresh off earning Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Defensive Player of the Week honors, Penina Sao continues to be the anchor on defense, again displaying her abilities by leading the team in digs with 26, followed by Torres with 21.     Â
The Trojans look to keep the win streak alive as they continue CCAC play at Cardinal Strich University this Friday, September 27 at 5:00 PM in Milwaukee.
